If there has been a film version of the classic, please make sure you register this selection in the CLASSIC MONOLOGUE category and not the FILM/TV MONOLOGUE category.

6 entries per school max.

Please be ready to designate the selection as comedic or dramatic during registration. We may choose to further divide the category into drama/comedy if there is an increase in registrations for this category.

​EXAMPLES:
- ​If you are doing a modern translation of a Greek play, you should submit it into the Classical Monologue category.

If you are doing a play written 5 years ago that has language that is similar to Shakespeare (verse, iambic pentameter, etc), you should put it into the Contemporary Monologue category.

If you are doing a modern play that is inspired by a classical source, you should put it in the Contemporary Monologue category.

If you are choosing the Queen Mab speech from Romeo and Juliet, please make sure to register in the Classical Monologue category.
